#facetofacefriday

I’ve been told that I’m beautiful much more since I lost weight, from loved ones to strangers, people simply notice you more. It’s an anomaly that leaves one feeling a little lost - to go from feeling invisible (and rather liking it that way, thank you very much, for often when you were noticed by a stranger it was followed by a look of pity or disgust, and heaven knows ain’t nobody got time for that) to being noticed regularly: being blatantly hit on (ew), being smiled at more often, having more doors held, having sales people who would once ignore you (because you didn’t fit into their clothes) practically throw themselves at you… People ignore what they do not wish to have to react to or what makes them uncomfortable, and obesity, for whatever reason, makes many uncomfortable. I see others with stories like mine take offense to this new attention and I’ll admit that while it feels nice sometimes, it usually stings to see such a drastic difference. In the end, this change really makes us view things in a unique way - it’s like we’ve been on both sides of the coin and are now stuck balancing on the side, trying to keep spinning. I am healthier and happier now and I’m glad the world can see it, I just can’t help but get sad for the old me when I see what she was missing out on.
