These photos are me before and after going vegan. I spent years upon years hating myself, feeling disgusting and unhealthy was the norm. I rarely left the house because I became so ashamed of my body I was afraid to be around strangers, or even friends. It wasn’t until last year that I finally stood up and took control of my health. Here I am, eight months in and I couldn’t be happier.
I feel beautiful. I love my body and though it isn’t perfect or in single digit clothing sizes, I am so damn pleased with what I’ve accomplished in just eight months. At my heaviest, I believe I was 200 or 190. I am now 152 pounds and I’m totally fine with staying there.
Beyond weight or how I look, I’m just so very happy to finally be able to accept myself for who I am. I’m happy that I can accept people into my life and know I’m loved even if I gained back every single pound. I’m thankful for people I’ve taken for granted in the past who stayed regardless and I’m thankful to those who supported me throughout all the break downs I went through when I was at my lowest point.
It still surprises me how much going vegan has changed me, mentally and physically. But I think it was definitely for the better :)
