Hello lovely people of tumblr!
Many of you know me from my blog just-yasmeen. And if you’re a fitblr you might’ve seen some of my progress pictures floating around.
A few months ago, and with a lot of encouragement from my family, friends, and tumblr family I decided to go for the Miss Arab USA application. Just taking that step was huge for me because I’m very shy and I don’t like being on stages or being the center of attention. Blogging from behind a screen is so much easier!
If you know my story, you know that my dream is to be a health advocate and teach people how to avoid my mistakes and learn from them. I have really big goals and really big dreams and to achieve them, I have to confront that fear that I have. When I was younger, I feared that people would make fun of me for my weight. And when I lost 100 lbs, I thought that that would go away. But it didn’t. Because my weight was not what was holding me back, it was me. So now here I am trying to get out of my own way and out of my comfort zone and into the spotlight!
This is such a great opportunity. I wouldv’e regretted it forever if I didn’t go for it, especially after making the top 20! And I am so thankful to each and every one of you that sent me a message or comment or even a like to show your support. And now I need to ask you for even more support.
There’s a lot of things I need to do to get ready and that takes a lot of money. I have set up a gofundme campaign at the suggestion of a follower. I know that this may be a silly thing for some to donate to, especially when there’s a lot of great causes out there that money can go to. But like I said, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity, and not something I would likely do again. So if you can spare a few dollars, please donate. The money will go towards my dresses and pageant expenses.
