coffeeandcardio:

The left is me at my 8th grade graduation. The right is me, three and a half years later, 3 nights ago at my best friends surprise party.

I found the left picture this morning. When I showed the picture to my mom to show her how much I’ve improved over the last 3 and a half years, she said it doesn’t really look like I’ve made an improvement, and that scale is the only number that counts.

She is 100% wrong.

Even if people don’t see your obvious transition, it’s still there. Just because my mom is closed minded and still believes the only number that counts is the number on the scale, it doesn’t mean that she’s right.

I don’t usually put up my own pics, but I thought I was necessary to show how little the scale actually counts and how much progress pics do.

For the most part, I stayed the same weight (maybe 10 pounds lighter now but 5 inches taller) and a lot of my weight is muscle. I do still have a long way to go, but my goal is not ultimately to reach a certain number on the scale, it’s to look the best I can and to be the healthiest person I can be.

I know this is getting long, but I can’t stress enough how little the scales matter. PLEASE don’t listen to those people that say a certain height and age means a certain weight is required!!

Thanks for listening guys, ily💕
