cicokitty: Hey, lets have a looksee at these.Progress pictures...

cicokitty:

Hey, lets have a looksee at these.

Progress pictures with just two comparisons, before and after/during, can be deceiving. It gives us the illusion that BAM it happened overnight. That the person in the photo went through a sudden change - even if we know, logically, it’s not true. That something magical happened to them, something extraordinary. That somehow, maybe they are extraordinary, and can do things that we ordinary people cannot do.

There are no sudden changes. Not physically. Not mentally. Not emotionally. It all happens bit, by bit. Sometimes bit by tiny bit. There is nothing extraordinary.

Bit by bit. You don’t see it at first.. but keep going, and you will.

You’ll notice I stopped taking progress pictures in June last year for a while. Why? Because that was when I was all ‘lol yeah I totally got this’. I didn’t bother with progress pictures then, because I didn’t need to check up on my progress. Shit was just gonna happen, and I knew it. Finally, I believed in myself.. it took a while. But even when I didn’t believe in myself, I still tried.. and it worked.

I took a progress picture again in October for the simple reason of ‘oops, havnt done it, probably should so I can look back on this’. Then I skipped November because I couldn’t be bothered again. In December I could hardly believe I was fitting into size 8 UK clothes, so took another (Now I take them to track body composition mainly/how my body is aesthetically changing due to increased workouts, and cus I have cute clothes lal). There was a huge change between October - December because all those stubborn areas were finally giving in. That time was definitely the fun part.. it’ll come for you too.

Keep on swimming. You’re rocking it.
