ilovemyselfbitches:

Happy Thanksgiving! I took the picture on the right on Thanksgiving 2013, I had already lost 50 pounds. The second one was this morning. I think it’s safe to say I’ve come a very far way in my journey, and hope to continue. I’m not sure of my measurements in the before picture, but I weighed 230. I’m participating in No Weigh November but my guess is that I’m around 160-165 right now.

After measurements:

Bust- 40 inches

Waist- 29 inches

Hips- 39 inches

Thigh- 21 inches

The Case For Work-Death Balance

The Case For Work-Death Balance

The day that Fast Company offered me a job was the same day that I found out my mother was dying. I hesitate to start this story with my own experience, but I realize that's part of the problem: We don't talk candidly about death and work.

carrots-and-hummus: Jumped on the scales for the first time in...

carrots-and-hummus:

Jumped on the scales for the first time in a couple of weeks yesterday, thinking ‘I’ve been so good lately- I MUST have lost at least a kilo or so…’

Wrong. I had in fact gained a kilo.

It got me thinking, though. Does it really matter how much I weigh? Is it surely not more important that I am making progress in other areas? I can run longer and faster, I am consistently lifting heavier and heavier weights, I am enjoying delicious food with zero guilt attached to it; I am healthy.

I’d like to say that I will never weigh myself again, but I probably will, and I will probably be hit with a tinge of disappointment if the number hasn’t gone down, but it’s not the be all and end all. The photos speak for themselves- I’m so far from where I used to be, regardless of what the scales say.

(For some reason I cut my head off when taking my ‘before’ photos, so for consistency’s sake I have kept the ‘after’ ones the same. Both are definitely me).
